Why I Love Cemeteries (And You Should Too!)

There's a lot we won't know about the coming zombie apocalypse until the dead actually rise, but one thing we can be sure of: people make zombies. No matter what else is in the mix, without people there can be no reanimated shambling corpses trying to hunt and eat other people. So the best advice for increasing your odds of staying alive is, quite simply, to keep away from pretty much everybody.

If you live in a city that may be easier said than done, but there are still some good options. Stay away from public buildings, transit stations, or large retail stores - they are all people and hence, zombie, magnets. Instead, consider heading for the nearest cemetery if you're caught outside in a zombie outbreak. In good times and bad, almost no one ever thinks to go to the cemetery.

And if you're worried about the dead bodies in the ground, don't be. Contrary to popular belief, zombies don't rise from graves. It's simply not possible. Just imagine being buried inside a covered box under six feet of dirt. You wouldn't be able to claw your way out no matter how much time you had on your hands. Because zombies are similar to humans in physical ability, they're in the same boat. Not to mention the additional problems of advanced decay and embalming rot.

So when the dead rise, I'll meet you at the cemetery. But do me a favor and keep it to yourself. The last thing we want to do is draw a crowd.
