A Few Right Thinking Men (2016) - Plot & Excerpts

The Canberra Times, February 16, 1932 Rowland had been up for some time when Edna emerged the next morning. He was showered, dressed, and already setting out his basic palette of colours. Edna had always found Rowland to be so. He approached his work with a professionalism not common among the artists she knew, whose work habits were more often…creative.
More surprisingly, Milton was also up. He sometimes watched Rowland work when he had nothing better to do.
Rowland used Milton to move the furniture around. “Back a bit…no, forward…. yes!” He wanted Edna backlit by the diffuse light coming through the window. Rowland changed Edna’s position several times until he found a composition that pleased him, with her reclining on her side, her head resting on a hand propped up by her elbow, her eyes directly at him.
Edna had modelled for many painters of varying talent. Very few wanted her to look at them. Most had her glance away, lowering her lids and casting her gaze as demure or dreamy.
