I did not want this book to end. I loved the characters and I wanted their story to go on forever. It was refreshing to read about Afghanistan's culture that did not focus on the negative, but instead gave us some positive views of their culture. I got a glimpse of what a day in Afghanistan is like even though there are many hardships and terrible things happening to these people because of the Taliban and the extremists. This was a great book and the author is a great writer! I hope she writes more books! I downloaded this Kindle edition not realising that I had read the book in paperback previously! However the second reading of this book was just as enjoyable as the first (in part due to my hopeless memory!). A very compelling read, immersing the reader into the culture and traditions of Afghanistan. Plenty of humour as the young Fawad tries to get to grips with the strange habits and beliefs of his mother's western employers. A lovely book and highly recommended.
Loved it, but cannot be compared to The Kite Runner. This is entirely different.
