A Perfect Trifecta: Delta Heat, Book 3 (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
Who would call so late? He removed his arm from over his eyes, lifted the cell phone from the bed beside him and read the caller ID. Jenn. Although he’d done his best not to think about her, about what she was doing with Aiden, he touched the screen and held the phone to his ear. “You okay?” “I need you.” She gave him an address. The line went dead. He shot off the bed. The way she’d said it, her voice thick as though she’d been crying, sparked anger inside him. The bastard had hurt her. Ten minutes later, he stopped in front of her door and gave it a knock. He waited, heard no approaching footsteps. Worried now, he twisted the knob. The door opened. “Jenn?” he called out quietly, not knowing what to expect. For just a second, he wondered if he should have brought his service revolver, but could he really have been so wrong about Aiden? He entered the apartment and strode through the living room. The kitchen was to the right. Another doorway, this one darkened, was to the left.
