This is review is for the entire series. Yes, despite all the flaws mentioned by the reviewers, which are probably true, the book is a five star read. It's brilliantly written and compels you to keep reading. So what if the books end abruptly and you have to buy the next one. You get plenty of bang for your buck. And yes, there were some predictable moments but there were plenty of surprises too. The writing is fresh and compelling and the characters are interesting and memorable. I'm not sure what readers are looking for exactly when they crack open a book but they need to lighten up. For a nominal fee, you will get hours of entertainment. Buy it. You won't be sorry. Makes a good gift too, as most people like it. Ready for an extremely biased review? A Song of Ice and Fire is my favorite form of Fiction ever. A lot of complaints from most readers would include "GRRM kills off characters before their story finishes" and "why did I have to read 4 paragraphs describing a dress?" But that's part of what makes this so real. At the end of it all (well, at the end of 5) you feel as if you've lived it, not just read a summary of it. If you're into dragons, horse-lords, conquest, whores, bloodbaths, political intrigue, carefully laid out plot lines, and more, then this is right up your ally. The icing on the cake, for me at least, are the characters. Often times, the plot can seem hazy or just absent, but the characters are so real and so deeply conceived, that it usually doesn't matter. Yes, there are many, many overlying stories and plots, but the best ones are the internal struggles of the characters.TL:DR - Hodor.
