After The Coup (2008) - Plot & Excerpts

Argh, I bought this short story without realizing that it was already included with the full version of "The Human Division". Well there's $0.99 down the drain. Anyway, this story is fine. It's basically in the same style and features the same characters as "The Human Division". So my review of that book basically covers this short story as well. I gave this short story 3 stars rather than the 4 stars that I gave "The Human Division" because there is more of an emphasis on the bad things from "The Human Division" in this story (Harry Wilson's so-called wit and sarcasm) and less of an emphasis on the good things (the life-or-death urgency of the diplomatic process and the unraveling of the mystery that is threatening to derail the process). I have been reading the Old Man's War series since the middle of last month and I am so happy that there is a constant supply of stories from the OMW Universe. This short story was very amusing and it shone a different light on the Colonial Union's diplomatic protocol. I have to admit that te world created by John Scalzi in this series is very detailed and well though out. I like how he comes back to characters he introduced before, expanding on their stories. We met Harry Wilson in the Old Man's War and his story was an interesting one. I'm happy to see that he has made a return. All in all this short story was a thoroughly enjoyable rad and and I would recommend anyone who'd listen (I recommend a lot of books to my friends, and then don't shut up about them unti They've read them)

What do You think about After The Coup (2008)?

Short and funny. One of the secondaries in old man's war gets some fun in a diplomatic mission.

Another random episode from the Old Man's war universe; enjoyable but completely isolated.
