Asura- Tale Of The Vanquished (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
Before I read this book, Rama was a hero and Ravana, a villain in my mind. This book written from the Asura perspective, portrays Rama and Ravana both as heros, forced by circumstances to be villains. The plot is from Ramayana and it's various versions that tells a lot many stories about the main characters. The language of the prose is the major plus in this novel. Though I can't say so about the plot or characterization, the narration is excellent right from the start. Recommended for those interested in Indian mythology, but not the strictly orthodox ones. This was a completely different kind of book I have ever read. In every epic story, it is evident that good defeats evil. Everyone is interested to read about victor of the war. But nobody dare to know a thing about the one who was defeated. Who knows there may be good qualities to learn even from who everyone thinks is evil. This is one of that kind of books which tells the epic story of Ramayana in Ravana perspective, I call it as Ravanayana. The author did an excellent job.

What a refreshing story. Loved the idea and how the idea was executed.
