Betty Bunny Loves Chocolate Cake With CD (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

"Sometimes you can't have what you want right away, so you need to wait. And that's called having patience." Betty Bunny eats chocolate cake for the first time and then can't stop thinking about it and wants it all the time. She even tries to make it at school by mixing mud and water. When she throws a tantrum when her mother says she has to eat a healthy dinner first, she begins to see how being impatient can be a problem.A good story about patience, with a "cliff hanger" ending that allows students to predict what's going to happen to Betty Bunny. That will be an importance discussion so that younger students will understand the larger concept of the consequences of being impatient. Other themes are important as well, liking loving the person even if you don't like their behavior and that families have conflicts, but they can be resolved. This book is another book that won the Washington State Children's Choice Picture Book Award. I loved this book. It was so adorable and the family of bunny's made it easy to see why kids would love this book. It is also very relatable because the little Betty Bunny falls in love with chocolate cake and I feel that most kids can relate to that. It also teaches kids to try new things because in the beginning she says she doesn't like chocolate cake but then tries it and falls madly in love with it. It also teaches them about what it means to have patience because the mom describes it to Betty when Betty tried to eat mud because she wanted it so badly. The whole book is very humorous because she thinks "your a handful" is a term of endearment from her parents and how she eats mud and how she says she wants to marry chocolate cake. The repetition throughout the book is great for young readers. The pictures are very humble and great descriptions of the characters and each of their personalities. The text is cute because it sounds exactly like how a child would speak and I feel like I would hear it in any conversation today. It's also very modern, easy to read, and fun!
