Deep down, he was still with me, though. I laughed to myself, imagining what he’d say about this entire situation if he had been well—giving my heart fully to a woman that had originally been sent to steal from me. Jade could have ruined me, and caused the next world war, but the moment I laid eyes on her in the bar at the Savoy, I knew she was different.
