Death In Vineyard Waters (2003) - Plot & Excerpts

The Woman Who Walked into the Sea by Phillip R. CraigThis is one that I've not yet read from the series. Love this series as they are based on an island in the North Atlantic on a nearby island.JW Jackson is a retired cop and loves living off the land and has a love interest Zee who works at the hospital. They get together often and share food, recipes and just being together.THis book finds them attending parties and being introduced to others who are there on the island. They are in the English field and one of them has located a Shakespeare partial play that no one even knew about. She has a habit of swimming at 6am everyday but one day she doesn't come back from the ocean.Lots of fun, drama and gossip, so many laughs. Things don't add up and the woman's professor friend hires JW to investigate and he finds many discrepancies.Love catching up with the others on the island.I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

I finished DEATH IN VINEYARD WATERS by Philip R Craig yesterday afternoon and I didn't like this one as well as the first one. It had more to do with the subject matter around the murder then the actual detecting though. I do like the wit this author writes with though. J W has a pretty smart mouth and some of the things he is thinking are probably more true to life than we would like to think. It is a fast read at only 244 pages. If you like reading about Martha's Vineyard and like wit, this is the book for you. He does talk of cooking a lot and even though he doesn't give you specific amounts, I guess you could say there are recipes in the book. A lot of talk about fishing and clamming. This book even included some sailing. The academia kind of bogged me down, as I didn't really care about theses and things along that nature that had to do with literature and drama. I gave this 4 out of 5 stars!

What do You think about Death In Vineyard Waters (2003)?

This is an early J.W. Jackson book that I missed. I like his Vineyard mystery series a lot. In this installment, JW and Zee are not yet married but are just beginning their courtship. They attend a dinner party and meet Professor Marjorie Summerharp, a woman who is writing a thesis on a previously unknown play written by Shakespeare. The woman drowns while on her morning swim and JW is hired by her writing partner to look into the death. This was a good book and the mystery, while not surprising, was one that kept your interest throughout.
