Forever & An Engine - Plot & Excerpts

I looked at the clock and it was 6.50 a.m. How the hell had that happened? I yawned and stretched out, alone. I got up and went to the bathroom and took my pill and painkillers, raking my fingers through my hair and examined my stomach again. The bloating was starting to go down and the bruises had turned to a deep purple colour. I brushed my teeth vigorously having missed doing them the night before and looked out of the window and saw he was in the pool.
I padded down stairs, made myself an instant coffee and headed over to the orangery. He was powering up and down doing the front crawl and hadn’t seen me. I managed to lower myself to sit between the shallow end ladder railings, dangling my feet in the water as I sipped my coffee watching him. He was amazing, his arms were just so strong as he sliced through the water and those shoulder muscles were so impressive. I’d finished my coffee when he stopped opposite me, stood and removed his goggles wiping his eyes and shoving his wet hair back.
