Gulp: Adventures On The Alimentary Canal (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
I loved this book, dog-eared the hell out of it and posted quotes on Facebook. I was excited over every footnote, pun, absurdity and curiosity that Mary shared and would take great pleasure in going through her initial drafts, notes, and bits of research that led her to this enlightening and entertaining book about human digestion. Read it for entertainment or education; either way you will not be disappointed! Very interesting. Everything you ever wanted (or didn't want) to know about digestion but were afraid to ask. This book is just about as user friendly as it gets. Let's face it, if it weren't for Mary Roach's sense of humor and snarky comments, no one would read this book except maybe a few very strange gastrointerologosts. If you are looking for a purely academic work, then move right along, there is nothing to see here. If, however, you prefer your science with a dose of sugar, then step right up, because this is about as pleasant as this subject gets.

Fun, informative, inventive and well researched and written. Don't read while eating...
