everyone who has ever lived in an old house and has wondered about the people who have spent time there before will love this book. everyone who is interested in 20th century history will love this book. everyone who is interested in the everyday live will love it, everyone who is curious about nature, ... we can continue like this but I'll just say that I wholeheartedly recommend this great book to everybody who loves to read. The best unconventional novel I have read for a long, long time, this book watches—with an uncanny sort of presence—a plot of land just southeast of Berlin over the course of the last century. With an exquisite cast of housebuilders, invading armies, lovers, children, and one mysterious gardener, Visitation gives us a piece of earth over which German history has swept with all the passion of human life. It is a perspective you won't forget.

Haunting, but a little confusing and disjointed. The story with the little girl was heartbreaking.
