He glanced over Ben’s shoulder and nodded to the officer in the black and white parked out front. “Morning,” Ben said, his voice a bit too chipper for Cole’s liking. He hated that he had to leave Katherine again, and a small part of him wondered how in the hell he had fallen so hard, so fast. “You ready to hit the road?” Cole nodded and turned to walk into the kitchen. “You want a cup of coffee to take along?” he called back. “Hell, yeah.” Ben laughed and followed behind him. Cole poured two travel mugs and handed one to Ben.
