Two long ass days. It was Thursday and the only night all week that I had to work the closing shift, which meant I wouldn’t be getting out until two-thirty in the morning. The beginning of the night had gone quickly, lots of customers to serve and good tips flowed in. Since it was a weeknight though, most people left before midnight because they had to get up for work the next day. So I found myself at one in the morning with only three regulars who sat spread out through the bar, peacefully imbibing in their brew and watching the various television screens. Deciding I’d rather get a head start on the closing than stand around waiting for an empty glass to refill, I went about the checklist I had long ago memorized. After cleaning up a bit, I checked with each customer to make sure they were okay and went to check the ladies room. The regulars were all men so there was no worry of them coming in behind me and trashing it. As I finished restocking the paper towels, the final thing in the bathroom, the door swung inward.
