Journey Of Hope: A Novel Of Triumph And Heartbreak On The Oregon Trail In 1852 (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

The year is 1952 ad 3 young women and their families join a wagon train headed west on the Oregon Trail. This is the story of Brenna, Rebecca and Emily. A story of love, hardships and loss.. Brenna is from Ireland, Rebecca is the mother of 7 children & expecting #8, and Emily is a young bride trying to maintain her southern lifestyle. To me this is a story of life's lessons learned when faced with severe challenges. JOURNEY OF HOPE is an interesting historical fiction novel. I really enjoyed the author's attention to detail. This novel puts a human perspective on a historical event that merits a mere paragraph in history books. The author tells the story through the eyes of numerous vivid characters who are seeking a new life for different reasons. Some are seeking an adventure away from the city; some are Irish immigrants who left their homeland and are trying to start over. She tells of the wonders of the new land they find as well as the hardships along the way. Travel wasn't easy when pioneers had to walk across the country on foot. This is a great novel for any history buff as well as readers who just want a good book.
