He is given a very important task by his lord, thus leading to exciting adventures during his travels, learns much, and meets interesting characters along the way. First in a series, it definitely leaves the reader (or listener) with a cliff-hanger moment.

I really liked this book about a young orphan who finds himself going on the Crusades with Templars.
