There were even old-fashioned swings that reminded Leah of the ones she had as a young girl. The park featured a 150-foot-high Ferris wheel, and they went for a ride. The cars were open, and it was cold. When the wind picked up, it got a bit exciting. Leah was glad she had no fear of heights. The wheel offered great city and Lake Michigan views. Wrapped in a warm coat with a scarf and knit cap, Leah still pressed against Gianni to try to get warm. But it was worth it. Laughing and holding hands, they exited the ride to head straight for someplace warm. Sipping hot coffee, they talked about the sights from the Ferris wheel, and gradually thawed out. Not anxious to brave the cold again, they attended a midmorning classic performance at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater on the lakefront. And after the show, they had some food and beer at the pub in a cozy corner of the downstairs lobby. Since Gianni was such an art lover, and Leah was becoming one, they visited the Smith Museum of Stained Glass after their late lunch.
