gr. one on one PreS to maybe 3rd gradeThis is a story about a mouse who wanted to fly. The theme would connect with children. The art is fabulous, and I think stronger than the story. The story is not bad, but it feels in tone like DiTerlizzi's Kenny and the Dragon - a story that kids would like but feels a little wish-fulfillment like. As I said, the art is magical, so worth reading just for that. What a wonderful book! It has such beautiful illustrations. I just love how it grabbed my four year old son’s attention. He wanted me to read it to him every single day for the past month. He noticed a discrepancy where what looks like the Chrysler building appears to be taller than the Empire State building, and he points it out every time. Now, he wants to go to New York, go up the Chrysler Building and the Empire State Building and go across the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. Then build an Airbus and fly over the Atlantic Ocean to Paris! Will definitely keep an eye out for other books by this author/illustrator.
