Funny that a ski coach would choose the tropics. Hudson chuckled to himself. But maybe a change in scenery would do him some good. This weekend they’d go over the strategies they discussed with the team members in preparation for the race in Telluride at the end of the month. The team raced against different ski clubs at the regional and divisional levels, and that was where a skier could really stand out, showing potential for even greater things. Hudson saw great promise in at least two team members. They needed everything he could give them, but there was a problem. Something was missing for Hudson. Or rather, someone. Shannon was out of the competition for now. He owed the ski team his best. She’d become a distraction, no doubt there. But he owed her, too. This had started out to be her season. Her year. Did she blame him for her fall? Others had skied the same slope that day and not fallen.
