Main Street Vegan: Everything You Need To Know To Eat Healthfully And Live Compassionately In The Real World (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
This book was okay. I enjoyed her stance, but at the same time I was hoping that the book would preach more about nutritional values. Victoria Moran presents her Vegan guide as propaganda for the vegan movement. Seeing as I am a part of this, I could tell that most of the information was basic-- useful for someone who was just adapting to the vegan lifestyle. The infusion of recipes into the book was a fun kick. Overall, this is a great "how-to" guide if you are new to veganism or thinking about trying it out. You might want to go with a more advanced book if you are a practicing vegan looking to learn more about wholesome consumption. If you have a pretty basic knowledge of veganism, you won't find anything new in this book. But the author's voice is so genuine and kind that I kept finding it a nice book to come back to, like getting together with your sweetest, most understanding friend. No lectures. No hectoring. If you have any stereotypes about self-righteous vegans, this book should kill them all. If you are a vegan, it's probably the best book to pass on to a relative -- not the one who keeps telling you you're going to die from a protein deficiency, but one who has expressed an interest. Perfect introduction.
