Do you like murder and mysteries and magic than this is the book for you. The setting takes place in Italy,1538 and the main character is Fabrizio a servant boy that is street smart and loyal to him master Mangus. Now Mangus is a magician who is displeased with Fabrizio's work but Fabrizio doesn't do anything wrong to make Mangus mad at him. When Mangus yells at Fabrizio I'm like "Dude it wasn't even him it was your other servants". Oh I forgot to tell you about to tell you about Mangus's other three servants. They don't have names so Mangus just calls them servant one, two, and three. The servants don't like Fabrizio so they are always getting him in trouble a lot.Mangus does magic shows but in the city Pergamontio, king Claudio fears the art of magic. So Mangus secretly performs at book shop at night. Fabrizio loves to watch Mangus do his magic and he even tries some. I even tried to do some of the magic tricks myself. But one night at the book store a rat told the king on Mangus and now the guards are taking him to the castle to talk to the king. After I read that I was like "who told on the old man and what's going to happen to Mangus when he sees the king".So where were we, ahh at the castle. So do you remember that I told u that king Claudio was afraid of magic well that's mean the people that do it too so king Claudio was really nervous I'm mean shaking nervous. He kept moving around when he was talking to Mangus because he thought Mangus was going to put a spell on him the Mangus kept telling the king magic wasn't really. King Claudio didn't take any chances so he sentence Mangus to death for performing the art of magic. But will Mangus survive or will a hero come to save him.So now this setting takes place in a dungeon in the bottom of the castle and this is where Fabrizio comes in to try to save Mangus before he dies. When I read that Fabrizio was going to go save Mangus I was like "why would you still try to save this old man's life he really didn't like you and he treated you like a mess" but after I read a little bit more it, it made sense why he was trying to help him escape. His reason was that if he would rescue Mangus, Mangus would probably be nicer with him This book has a good pace and has an old-fashioned but modern feel, and I enjoyed reading it. In this book, there are papers suggestions someone overthrowing the king of Pergamontio, Italy, and the king suspects it is the magician named Mangus. Mangus the magician, along with his servant, Fabrizio, help convince the king of what really happened. There is an interesting mysterious feel to this book, which makes you want to keep reading to find out what happens next. However, it is somewhat confusing at some points because of either the word choice or the fast pace. Overall, Murder at Midnight is a mysterious book that has plenty of descriptive words.
