A serious, but engaging graphic novel about the first settlers of Iceland and the descendents of one particular family, the Hauksson clan. A harsh plot to complement a harsh land. In order to thrive, the Hauksson clan adopts a cold, merciless family code that sees them through several generations. But generations later, changing times may call for less confrontation and more compromise. The beginning and middle of the book were strong. I was disappointed by the ending though. There was not much of a conclusion. The story just ends, as if it were cut off at the end of a chapter, rather than the end of a book. Still worth the read. Detailed, colorful pictures. Some blood, but not particularly gory. A little semi-nudity, but not much. Nonetheless, the books is definitely for adults, not kids.
What do You think about Northlanders, Vol. 7: The Icelandic Trilogy (2013)?
Found Vinland Saga to be far superior to this in terms of storytelling and depth.

A fantastic end to this short lived series.
