It had been a steady occurrence lately, these night sweats. Nothing fueled them, no nightmares, no exertion, he’d be sound asleep and wake drenched in his own perspiration. He stared down at Cara, wrapped around his clammy body, sated and perfect. He pressed a soft kiss to her temple before shifting her slightly off of him. He was gentle, and careful not to wake her. Once he carefully detangled her from him, he stood beside the bed and stared down at her. They had spent the entire night loving one another, switching back and forth between rough and gentle. He could actually say he made love to a woman for the first time in his life. He knew after tonight, he’d always look at her, and remember tonight. How responsive, how giving, how completely, utterly captivating she was. He smiled as he stared at her. All that she was, was his now. All the fears he had, that he’d lose her, seemed to fade, as he promised himself that he’d do everything in his power to make her happy, and keep her.
