Punk Rock Jesus (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

Jam-packed with badassery and wicked, anarchy fun. As poignant as "Watchmen," though more accessible & less serious. The punk rocker is one of those authentically unforgettable figures. I still have the searing image of an extremely handsome young dude on the cover of my Punk-O-Rama Vol. 5 CD in my brain... yeah, yeah. I know. Sporting the ever-elusive Mohawk, wearing metallic bracelets, (perhaps some eyeliner?,) a leather jacket, a Black Flag torn-up T (the result of the almighty-albeit-insipid mosh-pit). I'm blatantly aware of the resulting sex appeal: somewhere between a 97 and a 100%. The title of this story is deceiving. Yes, you're gonna get a lot of talk of punk rock - the ethos behind it. Stiff Little Fingers will be referenced. Christianity references abound. A lot of cool interesting talk of who or what the idea of "Jesus" is. But what I didn't expect was the IRA history angle, which if you read Sean Murphy's epilogue, speaks so perfectly about what any artist must to do grow. And he applies that to his characters so well. Religion or pausing your religion or fighting for your religion is a matter of practice. I hope you enjoy all of the little stabs at the entertainment industry complex and the deft comparison to organized religion, because it seems if Punk Rock Jesus does nothing else, it accurately captures having blind faith as being so freaking ridiculous... until a miracle arrives. Read it. The pencil and ink work is amazing.

What do You think about Punk Rock Jesus (2013)?

Fun and highly reminiscent of the comics I loved in the 90s. Throwback big time
