I adore this book. I like it very slightly less than "The Hummingbird's Daughter", which is to say this is one of my favorite books ever. I've read several of Urrea's books now and he has become one of my favorite authors. His fiction is unsurpassed and his non-fiction is absolutely devastating. Read this book and everything else he has written. You might want to start with "The Hummingbird's Daughter", but if you don't that's okay too. This book can stand alone. Highly highly highly highly recommended. Seriously... go read this now. Part of why I enjoy Goodreads is looking back at what I've read & when I read it. I read the Hummingbird's Daughter in 2009 and gave it 5 stars. Teresita is exiled in a different way this time, by her father, not by politics. She is most endearing when she makes mistakes, trusting when she should have been more wary. She embarks on an epic journey, gathering momentum, encircling life. As always, I enjoyed the languages and the Sky Scratcher's humor and vibrato
What do You think about Queen Of America (2011)?
I had to quit this one. I made it about 220 pages before giving up. Too rambly for me.

Loved this sequel to the Hummingbird's Daughter. Didn't want the story to end.

Much like his other books, this is well written and gripping.
