I would say that author needs to do some sanity check. This book cannot be categorized as non-fiction. It is rather ridiculous that Jodha, while hating her husband, could be playing duet with Abdul Rahim Khan (Bairam Khan's son who was reportedly very much influenced by Jodha, hence, wrote verses dedicated to Krishna) under his very nose. Certain parts of the novel appear to be the adaptation of some trashy romance novel. I wonder whether it was Jodha or Akbar who gave such intimate details to chroniclers :)).... Praises for the author to have offered an intriguing read! But having said that, I wonder why the book changed its protagonist half way through with Salim taking over Akbar's position. I was expecting a little more detailed and accurate description of Akbar's first wife and their relation, Nine Jewels of Akbar's court, Din-e-Ilahi, Salim-Anarkali tale and his full name mentioned at least once. Nonetheless, the book is still a nice read. I would be, however, strict in giving my rating considering the expectations! Two more to go!

Well written, could not put it down, loved the historical aspect entwined with fictional elements.

The book was nice. But I didn't understood whether it was story of Akbar or Salim.
