This book was a birthday gift to me from my boss with the intention of giving me a good beach read. All I can say is it's a perfect book -- whether at the beach, at home, on a plane, in the mountains . . . you get the idea. I must warn you, though, that you need to read it when you have some tissues near by and when you don't mind being heard laughing out loud. This book stole my heart, and it's right up there with The Help and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I didn't want it to end, and I intentionally read it slow to keep the experience going. Yep, it's that good! Enjoy :-) Saving CeeCee Honeycuttby Beth HoffmanI loved this book. I just fell right into the story. I wanted to jump right in and rescue CeeCee myself. She seemed like such a great kid but had to be the parent for the woman who was supposed to be her mother. I felt so sad about the whole situation and kept wondering if other children are also caught in this problem. The character of her Aunt Tootie is my new hero! she does read like a fairy godmother but what girl wouldn’t want to have one?! She meets a cast of such different women in her aunts town and some are quite eccentric. CeeCee even asks the precocious question “What is the difference between mental illness and eccentricity?” Each woman who comes into her life gives her something to add to the lessons and wisdom that a mother usually passes on to a daughter.
What do You think about Saving CeeCee Honeycutt (2010)?
Magic for the soul...loved the southern gentility of this book!
