She found it hard to believe, however, that something as trivial as a secret admirer could slip past her watchful eyes. Every morning a single rose lay on her desk at work. This had started over a month ago. Furious with the secret rose-giver, Georgia threw each and every one into the trashcan. The other women in the office sighed longingly every time they saw the beautiful red rose upon Georgia’s desk. “I wish I had a secret admirer,” they said every day. “She’s probably sending them to herself,” muttered a rather shrewd middle-aged co-worker. “She’s never had a boyfriend,” said another. “I have no time for silly games,” Georgia told her partner, Officer Jack Barnes. “Why can’t this secret admirer get the hint?” Jack shrugged, plucking a rose from the trashcan. “They are obviously trying to catch your attention.”
