Although well written, with quirky, off beat characters, The Summer of Naked Swim Parties lacked resolution for me. If I weren't from California and the same decade I may have questioned the validity, however the writer captured free loving, surfer life Santa Barbara quite well. It was the tragedy and the how the family dealt with the loss that jolted me and left a poor taste in my mouth. This was a book club pick - an attempt to pick an easy, beach-y read to get us through the summer. It was kind of a beach read in that it was mindless - everything is pretty spelled out for you and you don't have to think at all - but the story was a little lack-luster for me, and I had to force myself to keep reading because it didn't really keep my attention. I loved Jamie's parents though - as embarrassing as they are!
What do You think about Summer Of Naked Swim Parties (P.S. Series) (2008)?
She's very funny - can't say my life was ever like that but then again I never lived in CA
