Well written, but not for skimming lightly! Still, a good read that explains why sugar should be avoided. A lot of leg work explaining the whys and wherefores: the damage takes places at cellular level and if you are going to understand what's going on at that level, you need to understand a lot of things first. The point that the writer makes is that fructose is very, very, very dangerous. You might not get thin if you give it up (although the writer lost 40kg over a couple of years) but you will significantly reduce the chances of premature death. I can't really fault the book at all. The four stars are probably more a reflection on my own limitations. I was impressed. I read this 2.5 years ago. It changed how i live my life. Cut out sugar (and wheat too) about 95% of the time. Although I still have up to 1-2 pieces of whole fruit a day. Lost the excess kilos (6kg). Easy. No more regular afternoon brain fog. Don't crave sugar anymore and when I do have anything sugary now it actually tastes a little strange. I won't eat sweets unless someone has taken the trouble to make something because I feel guilty saying no.
Interesting, but a difficult read. What I got from it is don't eat sugar.
