Solid story with lovely prose, strong, dynamic characters and believable execution. It's Very mysterious bordering in super creepy. I kept hoping it wasn't going to end up as creepy as I was guessing, but it turned out to be more so. I enjoyed the set up and the mysterious anticipation more than the resolution itself. Except for the creep factor (5 dead children) it would be a great feat for the middle young. This is a book I picked up the old fashion way, browsing the stacks. I admit the cover drew me in then I dutifully checked it on goodreads and saw that it was promising. It was definitely worth the read. It reminded me of something I would have read as a child. A haunting book published perhaps even in Victorian times. But in fact this is a new book that does a good job of giving you a haunting mystery. It's a ghost story with some good old magic that transfix you while you try to figure out the plot twist and turns. The only love story is of friendship. It was a refreshing read.
Must read! Massive liked how it reminded her of Secret Garden. Highly recommend.
