Although this book is rather childish It opened my eyes on afghanistan. It made me want to go out there and help all those poor men, women and children.Even if this book doesn't seem like your style. READ IT! It's so quick and worth it. It'll open your eyes and just make you think a couple more seconds when you are eating your meal, taking a bath or sitting on the sofa.Honestly I read this book and then my cousin told me to read bridget jones... and I went through the first chapter of that book and could not read anymore. Between a 30 year old women complaining that she eats too much and a 11 year old girl not even complaining about her food and determined on helping her family..... hmmmm it was hard Sam's teacher was reading this series to his class when school ended. He really wanted to finish. Sam never wants to read so that made me curious and I had to read them too. They were eye opening books. Well written and interesting stories that make you think about other countries and people that don't have the freedoms that we do. The books separate the average citizen from the Taliban and show what life could be like for some of the people. Good for kids born post 9/11 that may think all Middle Eastern people are "bad" or terrorists. However, the last book may have been a little more than I would recommend for elementary aged kids.
i loved this book and hope we read it next!!!! =}
