This book is the perfect example of how a ludicrous plot twist at the end of the book can ruin a perfectly good book. The ex best friend turned pyscho who recruits her cousin to get close to the lead character and then the ex best friend attempts to murder the lead character and gets away with it b/c everyone feels sorry for her. Come on! It was stupid and it insulted my intelligence. It was such a cute little book until the end, which really pissed me off. The only thing that saved this book from getting only one star was the fact that it had a cupcake recipe at the end of every chapter. This book has such a lovely cover, so it makes me sad to have to write this review, but this book. Ugh.It had a lot of promise. I liked the characters and I LOVED that the book was supposed to revolve around cupcakes. If I didn't live at such a high altitude I would probably want to bake them all because they sound yummy. I learned things about baking that I, as a non-baker, didn't know. Definitely appreciated that. This book started out promising. I could buy the idea of a woman needing to get away after a broken engagement. I enjoyed reading about the main character's interactions with her grandmother. Then it got weird and stayed weird. All I can say is ???omgwtfbbq??? at how she kept kissing Thad. I didn't understand that at all. Then being run over by her ex-friend and the talk she had with her ex-fiance? Nope, don't buy it. It was absolutely ridiculous and unbelievable. The whole implausible-ness of basically the last 1/4th of the book completely ruined it for me. I enjoyed reading about her opening up her cupcake shop, in NYC, of all places (yay!), but I just can't get over feeling annoyed at the crappy way she wrapped things up.You disappointed me, awesome cupcake cover book.
What do You think about The Icing On The Cupcake (2010)?
Pure pleasure and escape. A fun way to get away from reality!
