The Just Bento Cookbook: Everyday Lunches To Go (2011) - Plot & Excerpts
Not just great for bento box users. I have increased amounts to make family meals and stocked my fridge with lunches we can eat cold or reheat. This would also be good food for a picnic.Recipes are not too complicated and don't require too many ingredients. I did have to buy some sake and mirin, but at least I have used them over and over. I didn't have to buy a bottle of mirin just to put one tablespoon in one recipe and then have the almost-full bottle sitting around my kitchen wondering what to do with itself. I haven't felt this excited about a cookbook in a long, long time. The recipes from this book that I have tried (about a third of the book so far) have turned out the first time - no tweaking or perfecting required. It does require a little more planning and organization to put a meal like this together, but it's been totally worth it for us to have economical, healthy, and really yummy lunches for my husband to take to work. It does help that the author puts an organizational timeline with every menu. I also love the fact that recipes are sized for one or two people (except when something is freezable for future meals). That makes it so much easier to not waste food or money. And my husband (who is picky in the sense that he likes a *lot* of variety) hasn't gotten bored with any of the recipes, either. Winner!
What do You think about The Just Bento Cookbook: Everyday Lunches To Go (2011)?
Beautiful pictures and layout. I wish there were more meat dishes. Not a fan of meatless meals.
