As soon as Chase finishes the letter and tells me he still wants me, I feel as though a huge weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. For the first time in a year, I’m truly happy. I move myself up closer to Chase, kissing him deeply as I wrap my arms around his neck. Gripping his hair between my fingers, he lets out a sexy growling noise that I love so much. He grabs me around the waist with one arm, while pushing me down onto the cushions beside us. There’s such an urgency here that I’m not used to from him. I know that all he wants to do is to claim me once and for all, but when I hear the faint creak of my bedroom door behind us, my eyes open wide and I immediately push him off of me with a force I didn’t know I possessed. Chase falls onto the floor below me and looks up at me with unveiled confusion. He looks as though he’s about to say something, but a little voice beats him to the punch. “Aunt Sophie?”
