I loved this book. I really enjoy books of essays around a theme. This was like the best of blogging in book form. That's very satisfying for me. I found myself really enjoying the essays by Stephen. That man can really turn a phrase. Our family doesn't choose to live as simply and close to the land as their's does, which made this book thought-provoking and change-prompting. Another thing I enjoyed about this book was that, though it focuses on family, the contemplations on nature and quiet an antidote for anyone who feels too rushed and disconnected from the natural rhythms of the world. This book was lovely to read. It is not as full of project ideas as her others, but still brings a lot of creativity. I must admit that living in a city/urban suburb that much of this book is out of our daily reach. I try to accept that this is our life, but I can't help but feel bad at the same time. Oh well, such is our life. I do take the message to slow down and enjoy my children as much as I can...while still managing to sweep the floor!
Another beautiful book full of family and togetherness blended with all sorts of handmade goodness.

Amanda's words inspire me. Steve's words are thought-provoking. Both fill me with peace.
