This book was full of plot twist and decisions. It was a very well written book witch put the cherry on top of a masterpiece. This book was amazing it always had you on your toes wondering what would happen next witch mad you lose yourself in the pages. The books also had a lot of historical references witch I believe only made the book even greater. The only criticism I have for this book is that it rushed details a little i wanted to learn a little more about the characters and there past's. But with that small blemish aside the book was perfect and i would recommend it to anyone ages twelve and up.-Spencer B This is a look into the civil rights movement through the eyes of the son of a leader who believes in passive resistance. What was helpful to me was the view into the role of the Black Panthers. I had limited knowledge of their community work at least until I read One Crazy Summer a few years ago, but this gave even more background in the story and in the afterward. Sam's voice rang true and haunted me.
This was a brilliant book. It made me so emotional. Very well written and told.
