I liked this author's writing. It is actually a storyshe came up with while researching her great grandmother's life as a doctor in the 1800's in New York. I was happy that although it was about child prostitution the author did not write anything too vulgar---or anythingI wasn't really interested in reading. I thought it was a good way to bring to light the socialconditions of the times. Overall, I liked it. I enjoyed Moth's story. However, I found the doctor's notes distracting; at least the way in which they were added to the chapters. It would have been nice if they were footnotes, but oftentimes they were inserted in the oddest places (usually in the middle of a paragraph) which really ended up disrupting the flow of the story. Perhaps this is unique to the kindle edition, but I found it very distracting and thus taking away from the story rather than adding to it. In my opinion there was quite a bit of fluff added (random news articles as well as doctor's notes) that didn't need to be added. Very odd.
A great read, but a few too many loose ends.
