The Wild Queen: The Days And Nights Of Mary Queen Of Scots (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
Normally, I find it difficult to find a good historical kingdom princess book, but I found one. I enjoyed Mary's feeling towards both her homeland Scotland and France. I will admit to being a little frustrated with her, especially during her love-life. I feel pity towards her first husband, who was a kind soul, and nothing but hatred for every husband she garnered later. The Wild Queen made me want to look up more information about the elusive young Mary, to see how much was true, and I was not disappointed with my findings. We all know how this story ends... I would have given this two stars just because it didn't necessarily draw me in or surprise me in any way. There was more telling than showing, which bored me quite a bit. However, the fact that Meyer chose to write from this perspective was interesting. It was refreshing to see Mary's perspective. Queen Elizabeth did not look so great in this life! I would suggest this book to someone who already has an interest in the Elizabethan era.
