Truth Like The Sun. Jim Lynch (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

In the interest of full disclosure, I think the main reason I liked this book so much was that it was set in Seattle, which has been my transported home for 16 years. Although I have visited the Seattle Center many, many times, and knew that there was a fair in 1962, I had never given any thought to the actual event or the impact on my city. I loved the historical aspects and have since done a fair amount of research into Century 21. I also found the issue of media's role in politics very timely. I am so glad I was able to have a gift of time to finish this book, a plane flight, rather than the 1/2 hour here and there that I had been able to piece together, for it helped me delve into the novel. I do like Jim Lynch's books, not just this one but Border Songs and the Highest Tide. His characters are believable and likable, and his plots are interesting to follow. And the places he writes about are Northwest, so you can picture them in your head. This one takes place in two time periods, the 1962 World's Fair and it's anniversary 40 years later, but it is also about politics, journalism, honor and greed. It's funny, frustrating. poignant and thoughtful. It's also a good one to discuss with others.

What do You think about Truth Like The Sun. Jim Lynch (2013)?

Spoiler Alert: Very good, especially for a sucker for Seattle nostalgia.
