They also visited the surrounding forests, La Push Beach on the Quileute Indian reservation, and the town of Port Angeles. “We went to the exact places in the book and took photographs and absorbed the atmosphere. Forks has a real sense of community, everybody knows everybody. There are families that go back a hundred years. A local chamber of commerce person named Diane Shostack was our guide in Forks and Port Angeles, and her family has been in logging and forestry and has lived there a hundred years. As you might imagine, everyone in Forks was excited by Twilight, which brings in visitors every week.”
