Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook: From Cauldron Cakes To Knickerbocker Glory--More Than 150 Magical Recipes For Muggles And Wizards (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

This is a cookbook for those of us who enjoyed the Harry Potter books. The recipes are very British and delightful. Enjoy recipes for English Strawberry Trifle, Victoria Sponge Sandwich Cake, Cherry Bakewell Cake, Citrus Sandwich Cake with Mango filling, Crumpets (oh YESSSSSSSSS!), Ice Cream Sundaes, tea, Pumpkin Pasties, Pumpkin Juice, Apple Crumble Pies, Treacle Fudge, Yorkshire Pudding, Shepherd's Pie, Bangers and Mash, Honeyduke Treats and more. This is a good book even for those who aren't Harry Potter fans. I rated this book purely by just reading it through. I have tried some of the recipes, some were great but some didn't turn out so well, maybe its just me. Anyway, it lost a star for me just because it didn't have butterbeer, which absolutely devastated me. I know I shouldn't rate a cookbook based on what recipes it has or what recipes it doesn't, but I really was looking forward to making my own butterbeer (hey its butterbeer). Other than that I think it's great that the author took the time and effort to do all this, I am no cook, but I can't imagine how hard it must've been to create recipes, especially for the food that Rowling made up, that's probably only been mentioned once or twice in the entire series based on just imagination. It can't be denied, however, that many of the recipes are just everyday recipes you can find in basic cookbooks, so if you're getting this book thinking that you shall have a magical feast on Christmas or Halloween or a Harry Potter marathon, and unless you plan on making your dining hall look like the Great Hall or seomthing, don't put your hopes too high.

Some of the recipes are pretty complex with odd ingredients but some of the simpler ones are great

All the recipes I've tried are lovely, but I think most of the recipes are a bit out of my league.
