Claire watched him as he paced about in their bedroom where they had taken to spending most of their time to keep out of sight from the street below. He had steadily become more and more anxious and by now he was more or less in a constant state of panic. Since the news had broken, he had refused to believe what was happening. He had stood and argued with the TV and radio, demanding to know how the dead could come back to life and start eating people and what the government was doing about it. He had always lived his life through a set routine. He went to bed at the same time every night, went to work on the dot every morning. Even his rare nights out with friends were organized and arranged to the letter. Claire always suspected that he had Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Even his wardrobe and sock drawer was neatly arranged accordingly and now, with the world turned on its head, his carefully packaged life had been pulled apart and he was unable to deal with it.
