Wishin' And Hopin' CD: A Christmas Story (2009) - Plot & Excerpts
This was a sweet, simple book that I could not put down. It was written like a memoir of a three month period in 1964 of a 5th grader. The events of the year were brought into the story as were the emotions, questions and of a young boy just beginning to wonder about sex and the responsibilites of growing up The slogans, slang and language peculiarities of the time were beautifully captured in all the characters, who were all very realistic. It was a great pre Chistmas read. Pretty enjoyable reading. Takes me back to my years in Catholic elementary school. I'm just a few months older than Wally Lamb, so it's very easy for me to relate to his references. I believe that more than half of my teachers were bipolar (both nuns and lay teachers) and had very violent and sadistic tendencies, especially toward the boys. This book was rather tame compared to my experiences with those whacky teachers.
What do You think about Wishin' And Hopin' CD: A Christmas Story (2009)?
Cute and not too sweet. You'll never think of Annette Funicello in the same way ever again.

A few funny moments but overall very forgettable.
