മയ്യഴിപ്പുഴയുടെ തീരങ്ങളിൽ | Mayyazhippuzhayude Theerangalil (2000) - Plot & Excerpts
While on holidays to Kerala last month, with nonstop rain in the background, I happened to re-read this amazing work, some 20 years after I first read it as a school boy. Beautiful. I found this work amazing, and on the plus side it brought back memories of my own childhood days when I first read the book. Also it's thought-provoking in a way that it made me wonder who all lived around what I now call my village some hundred years ago, what would have been their stories had someone recorded them? Most of Mukundans Novels remain as a pain in my memory...If you carefully examine the Novels of Mukundan have a common theme. They all talk about someone who is influenced by an ideology.May be the ideology of freedom or the ideology of equality. And his Novels talk about the soft emotions being destroyed by the quest for the ideals.Family,Children parents all of them become a part of this sacrifice for this ideology.Dasan's Father "Writer" in "mayyazhipuzhayude Theerangalil" or the character of Kesavan in the "Kesavente Vilapanga"l are all human beings going through this sorrow. In Mukundan's own words in "Mayyazhippuzhayude Theerangalil"...You cannot say dasan's story to anyone.Because Dasan's story is the story of humanity.
