A nice, short, fast-paced read. Would have been better if it was spread out a bit, though, as there was a fair amount of jumping around and it would have been nice to see some more character development and more description in some scenes. I solved the whodunit fairly easily, and I was all set to give this 4 stars for a nice read... then the Jesse bombshell was dropped. Did not see that coming at all! Had to bump it up to a 5, despite the other flaws. Will probably look at picking up the next one next time I need short read. After reading this book, I still do not know what 44 means. Maybe I missed something. It wasn't bad....the story was interesting, not great, but it kept my attention. I hated the writing style, found it actually pretty annoying. The characters, even for a YA were melodramatic and - dare I say it - incredibly daft. I struggled my way through this short book and at the end I was glad to put it to rest.
What do You think about 44 (2011)?
This was fairly believable till the last chapter when it went woo-woo.
