5 Very Good Reasons To Punch A Dolphin In The Mouth (and Other Useful Guides) (2000) - Plot & Excerpts
Surprisingly I didn’t find this book particularly entertaining. I didn’t like the grammar lessons (like "ten words you need to stop misspelling” and “how to use a semicolon”) and I thought most of the pages were not funny at all (like "8 ways to improve your home using a human corpse”, "why Nikola Tesla is the most awesome geek who ever lived” and "6 ways to fight a crack whore”). I ended up skimming through the volume. This was easy to read (took only a couple hours) and, overall, it was pretty funny; maybe not the laugh out lough kind of funny, but certainly the smile and chuckle to yourself kind of funny. I particularly enjoyed the comics pertaining to common grammatical errors; not because I learned anything new but because it made my inner grammar Nazi smile gleefully. Hey, we all make grammar errors (that's what editors and proof readers are for), but there's a big difference between making mistakes and never actually knowing what you are doing wrong. Ignorance may be bliss, but you still look like an idiot nonetheless. [Cue bigger grammar Nazis than myself pointing out the error or two that may have occurred in this review.] ;)Also, dinosaurs are awesome, even if they are difficult to potty train and insist on having premarital sex.
