What a wonderful short story to read while celebrating Veteran’s Day this month! I loved the fact that Mark knew Jase was his true heart at an early age and how he hung on patiently waiting and hoping for it to blossom into something more as he grew older. My heart melted as the two communicated back and forth while Jase was away on his tour of duty and then broke as Jase’s path seemed to detour and he ended up in a bad way. I loved the hurt/comfort aspect of the story and overall theme. The song behind the story is a favorite and certainly inspired one particularly moving scene. Loved everything about it – highly recommended!!! I love when even a short story leaves you emotionally connected to the characters, and wanting more. That is a showcase of real talent. Parker Williams makes us fall in love with Mark and Jase, and become invested in their story right from the outset. The use of the tapes made it so much more vivid than had it just been letters. And, I absolutely LOVED how it was all brought together for our boys. So good. PLEASE write more of these two. ;)
