On the surface, 8 Weeks sounded like a tear jerker because honestly what’s the worst thing in a marriage besides losing your partner? Cheating, obviously! I was prepared for an emotional, gut wrenching and maybe a little romantic read, but what I got wasn’t up to par, atleast in the feels category. The story was good, but at the same time it was very flat and monotone. I was forcing myself to feel something for the main characters, but I was more interested in the secondary ones than I probably needed to. Also, 8 weeks was a very short book, which was a good thing and bad as well. Good because I love fast reads, 8 Weeks ended up being one of the most addicting reads I’ve read this year and it gave me a rush throughout the story which I loved! However, the lack of depth in the MC’s relation was one of the consequences of a tiny book, which looking at a bigger picture wasn’t that bad.Shelly and Cal married right after high school and have been together for almost 6 years, until Cal unintentionally cheats on Shelly during a bachelor party in Vegas. When will people learn? Nothing good ever comes out of Vegas! Unless you’re a really good gambler ;) Moving on, Cal being a really good, honest husband tells her wife everything, but Shelly being a short tempered one, leaves him right that moment and decides for a divorce. First of all, I loved Cal when he made that confession right off the bat without any delay, there are very few men who will even admit it, so seeing him so vulnerable and apologetic made me heart melt. Yes, what he did was horrible and yes, if I were in Shelly’s place I would move out as well, but somehow Shelly’s reaction to the situation seemed very rash. Even after few weeks when she was relatively calm and had a straight head, she never let him explain the events or let alone have any conversation. The whole scenario seemed very bizarre, but I’m glad that things worked out for them. The dates were sweet and gave us a nice, subtle flashback to their dating period which was fun.All in all, 8 Weeks was a very adorable read and as my first book by Bethany Lopez, I was very impressed by how effortless and light the story felt. I will definitely be continuing this series and looking forward to see what’s in store for TJ and Sasha in 21 Days. Sounds exciting! I loved this book, I love Cal and Shell. I like how he has 8 weeks to make things rightI wasn't sure what to think of this book when I first read the title, it was interesting but i feel in love with a group of friends, I love the different ways he trying to win her back. I won't spoil the end but i will say, that I recommend this book for everyone. Bethany, you have done a great job with this story.
